July 8, 2017 – Muleshoe, TX to Lubbock, TX – 70 miles
Today, we rode from Muleshoe to Lubbock on an interesting 70 mile ride. The ride itself was was flatter than what we’ve become accustom to and a nice tailwind helped the whole team finish in under 4 hours. This is a big improvement for our team as we’ve all gotten significantly stronger on the bike. The scenery has changed pretty dramatically over the last couple of days as we’ve traded the mountainous desert of New Mexico for the grassy plains of Texas. Lubbock, which is the biggest city we’ve been to in a long while, was a welcoming site as we turned into town.
We arrived at a lunch sponsored by Ms. Sandy Anderson at Raising Cane’s which most of the guys (including myself) have never had before. It was delicious and a great change of pace from our normal lunches on the road. After lunch, we rode to lodging with a stomach full of fried chicken and only a few miles to go. After showering and winding down for the day we had a fun time at a friendship dinner with the clients of the Lubbock State Supported School. After dinner the team went out and explored the wonderful city of Lubbock.
