2025 AbEx Challenge: Gate River Run

The Ability Experience is putting a team of athletes of ALL abilities together for the
Gate River Run on Saturday, March 1 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Whether you walk, run, or roll, we want you as a part of #TeamAbEx! Your participation and support will help provide much needed social interaction for friends with disabilities by including them in the Gate River Run events.

By joining our team, you will receive:

Runners will have the opportunity to push an athlete with a disability in a racing chair on the 15k course or help guide an athlete with a disability who choses to walk/run the 5k!

When does registration close?February 10th, 2025 at 12PM ET
What is the fundraising committment?The fundraising commitment is $425 for 15k pushers, $275 for 5k runners and $150 for 1 Mile Challenge.

There is no fundraising commitment for participants with a disability and volunteers.
What does my fundraising go toward?Fundraising goes toward covering the rental expense of adaptive racing chairs and registration cost for participants with disabilities, grant(s) to support participating disability organization(s) and their disability programs, race weekend team expenses and for future events like these to make races inclusive for people with disabilities.
When is fundraising due?February 27th, 2025 at 12PM ET
What happens if I don't reach my fundraising commitment?If you're unable to meet the fundraising commitment by the deadline, your credit card on file will be automatically charged for the difference on the fundraising due date.

Am I able to help push an ahtlete with a disability that needs assistance?As along as we have enough athletes with disabilities register, we will designate 2-5 runners per racing chair
I've never pushed a racing wheelchair before. How will I learn how to push the chair?We encourage you to attend the pre-race team meal where we'll review best practices of pushing a racing chair. On race day, we'll also do a quick review.
I am unable to push a racing chair, how else can I participate?We will need runners to guide participants with disabilities who choose to run the course. We will also need volunteers for race day.
When/where is the team celebration dinner?
The team pre-race meal will take place the day before the race and the exact location and time will be emailed out during race week.
What's the best way for team communication after I register?Join our official team Facebook group which will be emailed to you once you register. We will also keep the team updated via emails leading up to the race.
Where can I store my personal items during the race?You'll be able to securely leave your items at our team tent while you race
