Pi Kappa Phi Day of Service
Pi Kappa Phi Day of Service
Pi Kappa Phi Day of Service is a hands-on, chapter-driven or local service project that brings together Pi Kappa Phi students, alumni and community partners to make immediate, visible improvements for people with disabilities and the communities that support them.
Born from the former AccessAbility program, the goal of Pi Kappa Phi Day of Service is to bring Pi Kapps together to make an impact with our local partner organizations that serve people with disabilities.
What Does a Day of Service look like?
Each project is developed to impact the lives of people with disabilities. Typical projects can include building support structures for an organization, painting rooms or buildings or improving the accessibility of community centers or group homes. And yes, we still do ramps!
Day of Service projects put The Ability Experience mission into action: changing how campuses and communities view both people with disabilities and fraternities by focusing on ability, inclusion and servant leadership. Undergraduate members and alumni work side‑by‑side, putting tools, time and brotherhood to work in their own backyard communities. When brothers invest a day improving access, they help families participate more fully in daily life and model the values of Pi Kappa Phi in a highly visible way.

Support and Grants
Chapters or alumni organizations that partner with local disability-serving organizations can apply for grants to cover project costs. Chapters that sustain ongoing volunteer relationships can also unlock grant opportunities (such as Circle of Giving or construction grants) through The Ability Experience, stretching local impact even further.
Day of Service At-a-Glance
- Identify a local need with a family or agency that serves people with disabilities, or ask The Ability Experience for help. We have more than 200 partners across the country.
- Confirm project scope and materials and coordinate volunteers.
- Apply for funding support through The Ability Experience (construction/materials grants, where available).
- Build and serve together. Use the project as a day to build relationships with the family or agency and share the story to promote inclusion.
