An Internship that Goes Beyond a Desk Job

If you’re studying finance, operations, logistics, communications, media or public relations, a crew position with one of The Ability Experience’s summer events could check your internship or course credit box while giving you real-world experience that’s anything but typical.

You’ll work in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment alongside a team that’s making an impact across the country. And when it comes time to land a job? Many Pi Alpha alumni say their crew experience helped them stand out in interviews and gave them the confidence and skills to crush the role once they got it.

It’s a paid internship. It’s a professional edge. It’s a summer you’ll never forget. From unforgettable Friendship Visits to cross-country adventures with your team, this is where lifelong memories — and résumés — are made.

Leaders Wanted

The Ability Experience is looking for Pi Kapps ready to step up, take initiative, solve problems and lead a team on an unforgettable cross-country mission. From behind the wheel or behind the scenes, you’ll help make life-changing events happen while leveling up your résumé and leadership game.

You’ll work in a high-energy environment where every day brings something new. You’ll be part of the crew that makes the magic happen, and you’ll play a crucial role in helping the team reach their destination safely, successfully and impactfully.

Hard work. Real impact. Unmatched experience. No matter your role, you’ll grow as a leader, travel the country and be part of something bigger than yourself.

Finance

You’ll help keep the team on budget while tracking expenses on the go. It’s real-world financial experience in a fast-moving environment working directly with the crew chief and project manager to keep everything running smoothly.

Crew Chief

You’re the right-hand to the project manager and the glue that holds it all together. From team safety to meals to managing unexpected challenges, this is the ultimate leadership role for someone ready to step up and lead from the front.

Volunteer Relations

You’ll be the friendly face connecting with the people who host, feed and cheer for your team all summer long. Your mission: make sure every supporter feels appreciated and knows how much their kindness matters.

Public Relations

Help our story reach the masses. You’ll work with media outlets — from local stations to national news — to get interviews, share our mission and generate buzz everywhere your team travels.

Social Media

If you’re great at capturing meaningful moments and building hype online, this is your spot. You’ll share the team’s journey in real time, highlighting stunning scenery, inspiring stories and the heart of what makes these trips unforgettable.

Historian

This is the summer you’ll want to remember forever, and so will the people you meet. You’ll capture it all through photos, videos and team memories, creating something your brothers (and every volunteer) can hold on to for years to come.

Requirements

To participate as a crew member for one of our summer events, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Initiated, associate or alumni member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity
  • At least 21 years of age at the time of the event
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Pursuing or having acquired a college degree
  • Must meet fundraising requirements prior to the start of the event
  • All crew members are required to attend crew training and crew debrief. Crew members are responsible for transportation to crew training and back home from crew debrief sites. The Ability Experience will cover travel, lodging and meal costs from crew training to orientation as well as travel, lodging and meals during crew debrief.
