Chapter Impact & Experience
Championing the Abilities of All
At The Ability Experience, we believe labels shouldn’t define anyone. What matters is how we show up, serve and build inclusive communities every day. Across the country, Pi Kappa Phi chapters turn values into action through year‑round fundraising, hands‑on service, disability awareness programs and long‑term volunteer partnerships.

The Impact
- 160+ chapters actively support The Ability Experience each year.
- Together they raise more than $1,000,000 annually to champion the abilities of all.
- Chapters contribute thousands of service hours to local organizations that support people with disabilities.
- Since the start of our fundraising efforts, Pi Kappa Phi has generated $30 million to power life‑changing Ability Experience programs nationwide.
From the moment you join Pi Kappa Phi — even before initiation — you’ll find meaningful, personal service experiences that change lives on both sides of the relationship: yours and those of the friends you serve.
Alumni stay involved, too. Many return to support chapter events, mentor student leaders, advise on The Ability Experience programming, connect chapters with local businesses or help open doors to new volunteer opportunities. Inclusion grows when everyone leans in.
There is no time like now to get involved with your local chapter and start making a difference in your own life, in your community or around the country! If you have questions or are ready to get involved, please contact The Ability Experience chapter services team via email.

Chapter Fundraising
Pi Kappa Phi chapters are consistently among the strongest fundraising forces in the fraternity world, and creativity drives the success. With more than 160 chapters collectively raising $1,000,000 each year, student leaders mobilize their campuses and communities to support The Ability Experience.
What Fuels the Fundraising?
Signature events (like bike‑a‑thons and Pie‑A‑Pi Kapp), campus challenges, auctions, partner promotions and philanthropy weeks, chapters find ways to match local culture with our national mission.
Thanks to generations of these efforts, more than $30 million has been raised in support of The Ability Experience’s programs. Those dollars help fund national events, grants to partner organizations, accessible construction projects and new service opportunities for the men of Pi Kappa Phi.

Disability Awareness and Shared Experiences
Disability doesn’t erase ability. The best way to understand that truth is to spend time together. That’s why The Ability Experience focuses on creating shared experiences between Pi Kappa Phi members and people with disabilities. Chapters host on‑campus and community events that open eyes and build empathy, from inclusive recreation days to adaptive sports demos to educational panels, often in partnership with disability organizations.
Many chapters also support awareness campaigns such as Spread the Word to help end the stigma of exclusionary language and attitudes. Want to communicate respectfully? Start strengths‑based storytelling.

Volunteer Relationships
Long‑term service relationships are the heartbeat of The Ability Experience at the chapter level. Partnering with a local organization that serves people with disabilities gives your chapter a consistent way to show up, build friendships and grow understanding over time.
What Do Volunteer Relationships Look Like?
They can be as simple or as ambitious as your partners need:
- Bowling nights or adaptive game days.
- Holiday parties or themed social events.
- Facility improvement projects (painting, gardening, small repairs).
- Buddy or mentor pairings with program participants.
- Support roles at special events and The Ability Experience programs.
When chapter members and friends with disabilities come together regularly, everyone benefits: real friendships form, stereotypes fade and campus communities see inclusion in action. Interested in starting or strengthening a partnership?
Circle of Giving
The Circle of Giving grant is an opportunity for chapters of Pi Kappa Phi to financially impact a local organization serving people with disabilities with whom they visit regularly throughout the year.
To be eligible for a Circle of Giving grant, a chapter must fundraise at least $25/per man or $2,500 (whichever is less) during the semester and have an active volunteer relationship with a local organization that serves people with disabilities.
Circle of Giving grants are awarded based on a chapter’s overall involvement with The Ability Experience, including: chapter fundraising total, number of members participating in a national Ability Experience event and interaction with your local volunteer relationship. Grants will be awarded for up to 25 percent of a chapter’s fundraising total for that semester. Not all chapters are guaranteed to receive a grant.
Chapters will be notified at the end of each semester whether or not they have been awarded a Circle of Giving grant. If selected, The Ability Experience will inform the chapter and volunteer relationship organization of the amount, and the grant will be provided in the form of a check. If you have any questions, please email us.
