Gear Up New York
A Pioneering Ride for Service
Gear Up New York offers Pi Kappa Phi students and alumni the opportunity to cycle 560 miles from Buffalo to New York City, all while serving communities, celebrating ability and carrying our mission across the Empire State.
This is more than a ride. It’s a rolling platform for service, inclusion and leadership development. Along the route, the team visits disability service organizations, engages local communities and amplifies a message we’re proud to champion: see ability first. The physical challenge is real; the personal growth and human connection are even bigger.
Why Ride Gear Up New York?
- Serve alongside and learn from disability organizations statewide.
- Build authentic relationships with teammates and the people we meet.
- Develop leadership, grit and empathy through shared purpose and long miles.
- Help grow a powerful Pi Kappa Phi service tradition in New York.

Resources and Information

Same Mission, New State
From the historic streets of Buffalo to the bright lights of New York City, the journey takes you through the scenic Finger Lakes, up the Catskill Mountains and through the state capitol. Each mile is a chance to push yourself, connect with communities and be a champion of inclusion.
Where You’re Going — and Who You’re With
The finish line isn’t New York City, it’s the beginning of something even greater. At the end of your ride, you’ll join the Pi Alpha Society: a brotherhood of more than 3,000 servant leaders who have taken this journey before you. These are men who lead with humility, impact their communities and succeed with purpose — in business, in service and in life.
