Saturday was a travel day for us. But before leaving Grand Island, some of the Arc of Central Nebraska moms took us to Ashley Park. This park was one of the first projects of Build America, and had a memorial to a Journey of Hope rider who died in a tragic accident, and a memorial to a girl from the community who was impacted by the many visits Journey of Hope made to this small community. These moms truly showed us how the Ability Experience impacts small communities like these and make lasting connections to the many people we interact with. It was one of the many highlights so far this summer, and I am grateful to have visited with the Arc of Central Nebraska.
After that, we were on the road again to Colorado. We stopped once on the way for a per diem lunch, and then finally reached Arvada, Colorado around 4. We then met up with Steve Toney who sponsored a great meal at Moes Original BBQ. After that, Tony and I met up with our archon, who was also in Colorado interning for the summer. Overall, it was a great day, and I look forward to getting to camp tomorrow.
