The Ability Experience

Day 42 - Supreme Chapter

 Permanent link

Today, I said goodbye to the truest fraternity I've ever been a part of. As the 2016 Build America team began to part ways, I couldn't help but find myself at a point of tears running down my face. As my teammate Colin put it: "I'm ready to be home, but I'm not ready for the goodbyes." I will never be able to forget the shared experiences that I and 16 other gentlemen had this summer, and I wouldn't take it back for anything. Emotionally, the past 48 hours have been the hardest part of the trip. Not the hot Texas sun or the awful Missouri humidity or thin Colorado air... But rather, having to say goodbye to brothers that truly display brotherly love to one another and all others.

As we arrived in Austin to Pi Kappa Phi's Supreme Chapter, we were welcomed by the entire national council, delegates from every chapter of the fraternity, and many other names within Pi Kapp. As our final hours were dwindling, we celebrated a great summer as a team leading up to one of the hardest goodbyes I've ever had to give. These 16 men are truly the most genuine brothers I will ever have. As we talk about in our creed, I finally experienced "the ideal chapter," A chapter of men who truly define what it means to be a man of Pi Kappa Phi. Thank you, Lord, for putting Build America on my heart all the way back in January, because without it, I wouldn't have become the man I am now.

Thank you to all of our sponsors whether it was a meal or a box of cookies in the mail for helping us get to the end of this entire experience. We are beyond thankful for your love.

Goodbye, Build America.

In Pi Alpha and the Ideal Chapter,
